Arthur I. Trager
Born in Mt. Vernon, New York, the second child of European immigrants, Arthur grew up in Mt. Vernon and attended A. B. Davis High School. After spending two years in pre-law at Rider College in Trenton, New Jersey, he graduated from Brooklyn Law School and subsequently was admitted to the New York State and Federal Bars. The following eighteen years were spent as a successful practicing attorney throughout Westchester County and New York City with an advancing career in politics.
Unable to find inner peace in his chosen profession, and at mid-life, he decided to start a new career. With little experience in the charter boat business, he soon earned a reputation as an entrepreneur and very successful competitor in sport fishing circles on the east coast of Florida, in the Bahamas and the surrounding Caribbean. He became the winning captain in six major blue marlin tournaments, including the 1978 Boy Scout Tournament, the Bimini Wahoo Tournament and many others he entered during his fishing career. For the past 15 years, the author has served as an ABMT Certified Observer during the annual Boy Scout Tournament. He is now retired and living in South Carolina.
